Jon Woods was raised in Estacada, Oregon, although his family is originally from Lebanon. His grandfather, Clarence Woods, was a long time dentist in Lebanon.

Dr. Woods attended Oregon State University where he received a B.S. in general science in 1994. From there he moved on to dental school at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon where he received is DMD in 1998.
